As an environmentally-conscious company, we strive to ensure that all waste is being disposed of properly. Recently, the Environment Agency has updated its recommendations for the disposal of various materials, including hazardous waste, construction materials, and plasterboard (also known as gypsum).
According to these updated recommendations, these materials must be segregated and cannot be disposed of in mixed waste skips. This means that when you hire our skips, you are not allowed to dispose of hazardous waste materials such as toxic waste, asbestos products, drums containing liquids, paints, fluorescent tubes, fridges, freezers, and tyres. We want to stress the importance of following these guidelines to protect our environment and comply with the regulations set by the Environment Agency.
In addition, the updated recommendations state that plasterboard must now be separated and taken for specialist recycling. Due to this, we have to introduce tighter restrictions on the disposal of plasterboard. This means that you can now purchase “Plasterboard Bulk Bags” from our online shop. When disposing of plasterboard, it is essential to keep in mind that only one bulk bag of plasterboard is allowed per skip, and any additional bags will be charged at £40 + Vat each. These bags should be kept clean, dry, and placed inside the skip, not on top of a full skip.
We want to emphasize the importance of properly disposing of plasterboard. Plasterboard that has not been segregated in general waste skips may result in an additional charge of up to £200.00, depending on the type and quantity of plasterboard. It is crucial to note that all foil-backed and insulated plasterboard will also be subject to an additional charge.
If you have construction waste that needs to be disposed of, we encourage you to recycle it. We offer construction waste recycling services to help you properly dispose of any waste materials. Our team can provide bags upon request for your convenience, so please let us know how many bags you need at the time of checkout by mentioning it in the customer notes section.
At our skip hire company, we are committed to protecting the environment and complying with regulations set by the Environment Agency. We hope this post has provided useful advice and the updated recommendations for disposing of various materials help. Thank you for choosing us for your skip hire needs, and together we can make a positive impact on the environment.
